Hmm, I’ll have to bring some supplies with me in case I do end up buying fish. Good thing I have all of them but I may need to get a cold pack in case it is hot that day. The cooler should hold the temperature stable and extra bags in case of leaks or I just need to change them out. Of course I cannot forget the Prime if I do change out the water.
Still looking for more freshwater LFS in the San Luis Obispo, Santa Margarita, and Pismo Beach area. Many are saltwater LFS. So far I think I am going to visit:
Anyone know of good freshwater fish stores around San Luis Obispo, Santa Margarita, or Pismo Beach? I’ll be taking the 41, 101, and 1 to get to Pismo. Not looking to drive past Pismo Beach (Arroyo Grande) so anything along those freeways are great. Looking to get nano or loach…
Thanks! Looking up online, those are the two stores so far. I’ll check those out. I am actually from the Central Valley. I will be going to San Jose in June so will definitely check out Neptune Aquatics as everyone says it is a great store.

Please let me know as I’ll be leaving next week for a day trip there.
Is it just me but I get somewhat annoyed when I post fish equipment on craigslist and someone asks stupid questions. I posted a canister filter for sale with the brand and type. I get an email asking what the GPH is. How hard is it to look up the name yourself and find out?! It is listed on all sites that sell the canister. I feel like I have to research for the person. Just Google the damn equipment. Of course I would be happy to tell the buyer information that might not be available online, like how loud the filter is but questions like I posted up there annoy me.
Please check your inbox! I have not heard back from the two winners so tomorrow is the last day to reply back. If I do not get a reply tomorrow, the shrimps will go to the next person. I do not remember who I contacted as my list is on my laptop. Shipping is paid by me so I just need your address.
Can’t decide if I want to get a new phone or new fish. My present phone does not use wifi and I need one. I usually do not care about phones but I really need a new one as I dropped the phone too many times.
I've had a plecostomus in my 20 gallon tank for about a year now and he is getting pretty big. I know they grow with the size of the tank but when do you think he will stop? He is hungry all the time and nips at the tetras and frogs when fish food gets dropped in. Also he excretes long strings of poop that end up clogging my filter. What do you think I should do?
Sorry, but fish do not just grow to the size of the tank. Their insides will still grow and they will slowly die. If you have a common pleco, it will be huge and will need to be put into a larger tank. If you are not able to get a larger tank, it is best to give it away. Try to find a pleco like bristlenoses or the smaller plecos if you want one in your tank.
Your pleco does not have enough space which is why it is attacking your other fish. It probably thinks the other fish are in its territory.
Having a larger filter will help clean the poop. Always try to get a filter that is rated at least twice the size of the tank you have. Water changes and gravel vacuum will also help.
Do you have any tips for kid-proofing a fish tank? I have two young and mischievous children and I'm a bit worried about setting up my tank because of it. I plan on screwing the tank stand into the wall but what else should I do?
I am not sure as I have never had to kid proof my tanks. I would at least hide all to cords so they are not within reach of the kids. Make sure your kids are not able to climb the stand if it is not covered on all sides.
We just aquiered a 75 gallon tank and are going to clean it, there is a adhesive on the inside whats the best way to clean this off would using soap maybe hurt my fish later or will the adhesive should I scrape it off ?
Just showing how the tank looks this morning before leaving. Still cloudy from the meds but should be clear next water change. I plan to change the scape around once everything is well as I just needed this scape so the anubias did not float. More rocks will be added. I am still deciding on that driftwood I saw at the LFS for $20.
